The firms was originally founded in Mudgee by Mr. Philip Kruit in about 1990 as a generalist legal practice and was known then as Philip Kruit Solicitor. The practice was taken over from Mr Kruit in 2002 by Victoria Yeates and Patricia Betts whereupon the practice became known in Mudgee especially for its attentive, compassionate and friendly style of providing legal services to its regional clients. Patricia Betts retired in 2008 leaving Victoria as the sole principal where she continued to grow a strong conveyancing practice, specialising in rural properties.
Catherine Williams, an accredited specialist in Family Law joined the practice in 2011 where she now expertly assists Yeates Betts clients in divorce, child custody, property settlement matters.
In July 2017, Victoria Yeates decided to semi-retire so that she could spend more time with her family and exciting new family-run boutique wine business ‘Yeates Wines’. However, Victoria continues to assist Yeates Betts clients draft their Wills and she advises on their Estate Planning and acts on Probate matters.
Jared Zak replaced Victoria as the firm’s principal coming from Dodd & Crossett, a law firm founded in the Hawkesbury. Jared brought across from his previous practice clients involved in a range of small-to-medium sized businesses, including retail pharmacy and café franchising.
At the end of 2017, the conveyancing practice of Yeates Betts merged with Dodd & Crossett Solicitors whereupon the focus of Yeates Betts became family law, franchising and small business law.
